IRS Extends Tax Return Filing and Payment Deadline 2021
The Treasury Department and Internal Revenue Service (IRS) announced on March 17, 2021 that the income tax return filing and tax payment due date for individuals for the 2020 tax year will be automatically extended to May 17, 2021.
At the present time, this relief does not apply to 2021 estimated tax payments that are due on April 15, 2021. These payments are still due on April 15, 2021. The IRS will be providing formal guidance in the coming days.
It is not known at this time if the individual states will follow this guidance. We will continue to monitor the states’ reaction to this as well as the formal guidance from the IRS.
RBSK Partners will continue to work towards preparing and completing our clients’ 2020 individual tax returns as quickly as possible. Click here for more information.
